“家” — 无论是实体还是精神层面的 — 是最基本的用来思考身份问题的空间, 这个概念正在被解构, 对它的阐释出现了越来越多的可能性. 这是因为身份目前通常被理解为一种不断变化的过程, 其关键特性是开放, 差异化与重构. 身份的构成以及对身份的识别必定包含两个步骤: 对 “自我” 的强调以及消除这个 “自我” 的稳定性, 无论是国家的身份, 还是某个少数派群体的身份, 甚至个人的身份均是如此. 自我与他者是紧密相连的两个概念, 期间的界线也日渐模糊, 每一个家庭, 每一个个体都必须参与这样一种博弈. 具有完整的跨国性, 文化多元性以及跨学科性的新的社会和文化空间正在世界各地不断出现, 并形成深具潜力的社会生活形态, “家” 作为社会空间的基本组成部分也正经历着这样的根本变异: 我家是你家, 你家是我家.



为了完成对生活的革新, 新的家庭形态和生活方式正不断出现. 在城市化以及由网络象征着的新经济 / 社会关系形成过程中, 越来越多的城市居民开始过上了游牧式生活. 流动性, 灵动性, 互动性和可交换性构成了新的社会基础, 这也是当代艺术必须面对的切身问题. 更重要的是, 我们必须注意当代艺术活动本身正在改变. 越来越多的艺术家开始走出美术馆, 画廊和其他传统的“艺术家园”的围墙, 侵入城市空间. 对于他们中的很多人来说, 集体性的行动与合作成了主要的生活和创作方式, 他们正在制造一个属于艺术社群共有的新家园.

家的概念在发生异变. 首先是租金上涨造成大城市中的居住空间大量收缩, 家不再只是家庭活动的场所, 也成了工作的地方. 在今天, 家可以承载各种各样的活动. 家是被墙围起来的流动空间. 这是一个”多合一”的时代, 大部分独居者生活在兼有工作室功能的公寓里, 有较多的闲暇时间进行清洁工作. 家从未像现在这样与外界连接得如此紧密. 电视和互联网为我们保持永久性的全球连接提供了可能, 你足不出户便可畅游世界. 家成了分享的场所, 成了聊天室.

… 在世界各地游走的错位状态令他们 (艺术家) 在关于家园的记忆和当下的种种经历与冒险带来的兴奋感之间持续挣扎. 这种挣扎不但为想象力营造了新的空间, 更有趣的是, 它还对他们的私人及社会生活造成实际上的变化. …

亚洲社会的现代化与消费主义化的另一个后果是等级社会, 这在全球皆然, 但或许在亚洲尤其迅速. 等级社会将把现有的社会秩序清扫一空: 每个人 — 不论富裕的上层阶级还是贫穷的底层 — 都无法不卷入等级的漩涡当中. 家庭形态的改变是这一暴力性社会异变的明确症状. 家已被化约成为工作间隔时段提供最低限度休息的场所.

法国建筑家亨利 戈丹 (Henri Gaudin) 说过:“将地平线拉回自己身边, 将世界的外在性内在化, 它会令你摆脱中立, 摒除恶意, 将原有的无动于衷情绪转化为一种魅力或恶意的交换物件.”
