Gracia Ventus (b. 1988) – founder and designer of ROSEN – is a global nomad who has built an exceptional independent fashion label based in China. Born in Indonesia, she has lived in Singapore, Melbourne and London, now calling Shanghai her home.
Prior to fashion design, she had been running a fashion archive store for a decade while producing a body of written work on her blog The Rosenrot. The self-taught designer is a prolific writer who has contributed to publications over the years, written essays about garment manufacturing, textile production and various aspects of the fashion industry, including its associated social, economic and ethical implications.
In 2018, ROSEN was born out of a passionate defiance against the mainstream fashion system. As a clothing company that reflects her nomadic sensibilities, ROSEN marries Eastern and Western aesthetics to create avant-garde silhouettes, eschewing branding to focus on design and materials while specialising in mass customisation to encourage a more mindful form of consumption.
