Hiroki Osuka

Textile Developer

Hiroki Osuka (b. 1990) was born in Toyohashi, Aichi, now lives and works in Nagoya, Japan, sourcing fabrics for a range of clientele from all around the world including Jan Jan Van Essche in Antwerp, Ziggy Chen in Shanghai and many more.

At the age of 16, Osuka set off to Shanghai on his own and that’s where the adventure started. Majored in fashion marketing at university, before graduating he had already begun working for Ziggy Chen, an eponymous fashion label based in Shanghai, infusing Western culture with ancient Chinese designs. Osuka initially worked as a visual merchandiser and later went on to become the brand manager, undertaking tasks from wholesale to collection development.

Remained as Ziggy Chen’s right-hand man for almost 8 years, Osuka travelled across the world with the team and very soon, motivated by an obsessive passion, he started to develop a profound interest in textiles. In 2018, Osuka returned to Japan and initiated the project of Dissonant Practice, which was later rebranded as Salou Inc. in 2023, connecting the highly crafted but gradually fading Japanese textile makers to the rest of the world.
